When you are assessing what your true "benefit package" will do for you, you can get help from someone that has been there: Medically Retired UPS Pilot Wyatt Stedman. Wyatt is one of our lead professionals in assessing and working with UPS Pilots to make sure they have the best disability coverage possible. Did you know that there are limitations to the disability insurance you get from the union association, the company and current long-term disability insurance? Knowing what benefits you have, limitations and exclusions of those benefits (what it covers and doesn't cover), and how it applies to you is of paramount importance.
Did you know that when it comes to getting a quote on life and disability insurance as a Pilot, it's NOT all the same! What type of protection you have is based on things like current total income, current guaranteed income, age, years on the job for the company, and most importantly: your health. UPS is a GREAT place to work, and the Pilot's Association has done very well for the pilot’s. However, there are ways to INCREASE your benefits should misfortune occur.
Wyatt Stedman, a former UPS Pilot, knows all about it. It makes sense to talk to an expert and Wyatt is that expert. Not only is he tied into everything UPS and the association are doing, but he has been struck with the misfortune of disability himself. Click HERE to watch a short video about his story. Wyatt will help you personally analyze what you need in relation to where you are in your career.
You currently have 60% of your guarantee income up to $13,500 a month of group disability insurance. You are eligible for 70% of your total UPS earned income.
Our average 15-year First Officer makes roughly $257,000 and with a guarantee income of $220,000 has $11,000 a month of current disability insurance. They would be eligible for up to an additional $3,992 a month of disability insurance.
Whether we talk on the phone or in person, the objective is to MAKE SURE that you have the right policy for you. This includes making sure there are no conflicts or double-coverage with the benefits package you currently have.
Each quote can vary depending on your current income, the nature of your exact job, flight frequency, and other factors. If you want to save money, you get a custom quote. That's how we stay competitive and can proudly say we have the best disability program in the airline pilot community.
